The Union Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team used a determined defensive effort in the second half of their game with Aplington-Parkersburg to rally from a four point halftime deficit and secure a 33–30 victory. The Knights did not attempt many shots in the defensive struggle, but made them count, shooting 49% from the field. Jace Glenn led all scorers with 11 points and Troy Hanus added 9. Glenn also led the team in rebounds with 7.
In the 7th grade game, the Knights could not get their shots to fall and the Falcons went home with a 42-16 win. Union could only muster 24% shooting from the field and 17% from the free throw line. The Knights were led in scoring by Carter Asmussen with 6 points. Nolan Havran and Silver Schmitz each added four points.
In an extra half played by “B” teams, the Knights were edged, 12-5. Hunter Klima scored all five of Union’s points.
