On a night when the Union Knights needed a victory to ensure their sixth consecutive trip to the football postseason, the Waterloo Columbus Sailors were just what the doctor ordered. Coming off a stretch of four consecutive defeats, the Knights were looking to get back to their winning ways. With quarterback Jay Scheel directing an efficient offense and running back Noah Garwood zipping past defenders to score three touchdowns, Union put 27 points on the scoreboard in the second quarter to take control of the game, on their way to a 42-0 win against the overmatched Sailors.
With the win, Union evened its record in district play to 3-3 to claim a number three seed by virtue of a point differential tiebreak with Hampton-Dumont and Osage. The Knights will travel to Cascade and try to avenge a 30-21 loss suffered on September 27 at the hands of the Cougars.
