After 18 consecutive wins and avenging an earlier season loss to Mt. Vernon in the semi-finals of the State Volleyball Tournament, the Union Knights came up short in their quest for the school’s first state volleyball title. The Knights spotted Dike-New Hartford the first two sets in the championship match before mounting a spirited rally to win the third set and forge a 23-18 lead in the fourth. The Wolverines, though, showed thir championship pedigree and won nine of the final eleven points for their sixth consecutive state championship, first in Class 3A.
The Knights finished the season with a 40-5 record, taking home the second place trophy at State for the second time in five years.
