The 38th Annual Green Scene Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May l0th from 9 AM to 12 PM, at The Agriculture Building on the Cattle Congress Grounds, 257 Ansborough Ave. in Waterloo, Iowa. Admission is free.
Green Scene encourages you to “Experiment!”, or try something new this spring. The plant sale offers proven perennials in addition to new varieties. Plants include: day lilies, hosta, ornamental grasses, vines, groundcovers, houseplants, herbs, small shrubs and domestic wildflowers. Old favorites and new varieties such as Heuchera ‘Bella Notte’, Echinacea ‘Salsa Red’, and Lily ‘Acoustic’ will be available. The 2014 hosta of the year ‘Abiqua Drinking Gourd,’ as well as ‘American Hero,’ ‘Curly Fries,’ ‘Prairie Sky,’ and ‘Sparkler’ are among those that will be offered.
Labeled plants can be donated by dropping them off at the sale barn May 5th through May 8th starting at 9am. Please label bags of plants with variety and color if possible.
Our volunteers are happy to dig and/or pick up plants from gardens in Black Hawk County: Please call Brian (319-269-2549) by April 26th to schedule a collection date for your plants. Volunteers are needed during the week to pot, water, label, dig and haul plants. In.addition, volunteers are needed during the sale to work as cashiers, assistants at tables, and helping customers.
