Union High School’s Robota White robotics team will compete against 71 other teams from 11 different states at the FIRST Tech Challenge North Super Regional competition March 15-17 at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format.

The achievement caps a season that saw two Union teams, Robota White and Robota Red (#5149)compete in five regular league competitions, followed by the league championship event held at Union High School on January 13, where both teams advanced to a Super Qualifier Tournament held in Johnston last month.

Robota White’s performance at that competition qualified the team to compete at the State Competition. A second place finish at State now has Robota White preparing for the competition that will determine which teams will advance to the 2018 FIRST Championships held in Detroit next month.
