LPC Legion Post to raffle portable grill

In the land of outdoor cooking, wood fire grills are all the rage. As technology continues to drive new and innovative products, even a novice can produce mouth-watering results using the latest wood-fired grills.

In the spirit of Man, Fire, Food, La Porte City’s U.S.S. San Diego American Legion Post #207 is raffling off the ultimate tailgate/home portable grill. Tickets can be purchased from any Legion member at a cost of $5 each.

One lucky winner will receive a Davy Crocket electric grill made by Green Mountain Grills. This portable electric grill can also run on 12 volt power, perfect for campers and tailgaters. The prize also includes a bag of pellets, allowing the “Grillmeister” to get started right away.

The grill raffle drawing will be held during the Festival of Trails Celebration on Saturday, June 16, making it a great Father’s Day gift.

USS San Diego Post #207 will use the proceeds from the raffle to benefit Cedar Valley Honor Flight, the Black Hawk County Veterans Ramp Project and other local Legion Post activities.

From the Manufacturer: The Davy Crockett model is the ultimate portable grill. It comes with a digital WiFi controller (control and monitor through our iOS or Android mobile application), a meat probe, a peaked lid for rib racks, a convenience tray with utensil hooks, and Sense-Mate, a thermal sensor which constantly monitors grill temperature. The grill can run on 12V or 120AC so it’s perfect for home or camping, tailgating, hunting, house-boating, music festivals or anywhere you can take it! The Davy Crockett weighs 68 pounds and features fold-able legs so that it can be easily placed in the trunk of any car. Open flame technology grease trays are optional and can be purchased in our parts section.

How it works: A motor turns the auger which feeds pellets into the firebox. There, a hot rod automatically ignites the pellets, and a combustion fan below keeps them burning. Vents vertically line the inside of the Firebox creating the ultimate wood burning fire, circulating pure hardwood smoke flavor
