During the halftime festivities of the Homecoming football game against Roland-Story, two new members of the Union High School Hall of Fame were inducted.

First to be recognized was the 2011 state champion football team, which made a memorable postseason run through the Class 3A field. A thrilling last-minute win over Washington in the opening round sent the Knights to play the four-time defending state champions Solon, where they emerged a 39-24 winner. A Jay Scheel punt return and an opportunistic defense that forced three turnovers avenged a regular seasonloss to Maquoketa and sent Union to the Dome, where they stunned top-ranked ADM-Adel, 42-28, then rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Decorah for a second time that season to win the state title.

Also inducted into the Union Hall of Fame was Logan Thomsen, Class 2A State Champion wrestling at 152 lbs. in 2013. Thomsen was a four-time State qualifier, never finishing below third at the State Tournament.
