Homecoming highlights came early for the Union Knights in the form of a 57 yard dash to the end zone on the second play from scrimmage by Union running back, Isaiah Vaughan. The touchdown scamper staked the Knights to an early 6-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the home team, the 8th ranked Falcons countered with a touchdown drive of their own to claim a lead they would not relinquish. With an impressive display of ball control, the Falcons’ ground and pound approach mixed in just enough passes to keep the Union defense guessing on their way to a 28-6 halftime lead. The stat sheet confirmed Aplington-Parkersburg’s dominance, as the Falcons ran nearly twice as many offensive plays as the Knights to remain unbeaten in District 6 play.
Union falls to 2-2 in district play, 2-4 overall. The Knights travel to Iowa Falls on Friday.
