Arlene J. Lane, 98, of La Porte City, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab of natural causes. She was born June 3, 1915 in rural Black Hawk County the daughter of James Earl and Mary Jane Healey Huppert. She married Milton L. Lane on March 4, 1938 in Lancaster, MO; he preceded her in death on January 4, 1980.
She worked as an aide at the former Colonial Manor Nursing Home in La Porte City for many years. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, church circle, founder of Country Lane Saddle Club and was a volunteer for La Porte City Council on Aging, where she received many awards.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Jeff) Krop of La Porte City, Sue (Agustin) Ramirez of Claremore, OK; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one son, Robert, one granddaughter, Dalanna McFarland in infancy; one brother, Robert Huppert and one sister in infancy.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in the West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at La Porte City Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church.
