Ashley Sophia Brown and Nicholas James Bente were united in marriage on October 25, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City. Pastor Mike Gudka officiated the three o’clock ceremony. A reception followed at Heartland Acres Event Center in Independence.
Ashley is the daughter of Anthony and Sandy Brown of La Porte City. Nick is the son of Julie Bente (Jim Holt) of Wadena and Jeff and Lisa Bente of Strawberry Point.
Kayla Hood of Manchester was matron of honor and Rachael Brooks of Cedar Falls was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Brown of Eldridge, Jenny Zabel of Cedar Falls and Mycala Briggs of New Orleans, LA and Alisa Holverson of Madison, WI. Personal attendant was Shari Allen of La Porte City and guest attendants were Andi Jordt of Minneapolis, MN and Brenna Allen of Cedar Falls. Flower girls were Kailyn Meester of Dike and Kailyn Zabel of Cedar Falls.
Seth Engelken of Marion was best man. Groomsmen were Adam DeShaw of Aurora, CO, Brandon Zabel of Cedar Falls, Tony Brown of Eldridge, Ben Waterman of Manchester, and Drew McWilliams of Ryan. Seating guests were Brady Allen of Des Moines, Shane Knipper of Manchester and Brian Hermsen of Manchester. Ring bearers were Colin Meester of Dike and Jordan Zabel of Cedar Falls.
Ashley is a 2013 graduate of Allen College and is a charge nurse at Edgewood Convalescent Home. Nick is a 2011 graduate of Hawkeye College and is employed at Rockwell Collins in Manchester. The couple enjoyed a brief getaway trip to Chicago and they reside in Strawberry Point.
