Barbara Ann Kimm, 67, of Dysart, died at Covenant Medical Center of a massive heart attack on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.
Barb was born December 29, 1945, in Davenport, daughter of Herschel and Betty (Kistler) Stripe. She married Robert George Kimm on December 28, 1966.
Barb earned her degree in elementary education and taught first grade for seven years. She became a stay at home mother after the adoption of their son Ted in 1972 and Flo in 1975. Once the kids were school age Barb worked as a teacher’s aide for middle school special ed and an elementary sub in the local schools. She worked in retail sales at a department store and finally she became a rural mail carrier, retiring in 2011. She was a person of great kindness that would go out of her way to help anyone.
Barb is survived by her mother Betty of Rock Island, husband Bob of Dysart, son Ted Kimm (Sarah) of Bettendorf, daughter Flo Grote and husband Casey of La Porte City and three grandchildren, Ivy, Lily and River, and a brother Jim and wife Sandy of Portland, OR.
Barb was preceeded in death by her father Herschel Stripe.
Services were held at United Methodist Church, Dysart, on August 17, 2013 with burial at a later date.
