Don Bosco defended their top ten ranking with a 6-0 shutout over the Knights on July 3 on Union’s home field. Don Bosco jumped off to quick start building a 4-0 lead after two innings, which provided plenty of run support for the visiting team’s starting pitcher, Travis Havel. Havel limited the Knights to just three hits while striking out ten over seven innings of work.
Sophomore pitcher Brady Driscol took the loss, giving up four runs, seven hits, one walk, and striking out six over six innings of work. The Dons tacked on two more runs in the seventh off reliever Bo Bader to reach the final score of 6-0.
Ted Tecklenburg collected two of the three Union hits while Alex Barz collected the other.
The Knights head into the Fourth of July break for a well-deserved rest after winning seven of their last nine. Union is now 11-12 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
