The Knights Baseball Team picked up a big win over league leading Denver on June 11 on their home field. The Cyclones, who were undefeated in league play, ran into the hot hitting of Union early on in the game.

After Tecklenburg reached on a fielder’s choice, Driscol’s double put runners at second and third which were followed by consecutive walks to Crees, Barz, and Bader. After an error on Nic Peters hard hit ball, the Knights lead 3-1 after one inning of play.

Union scored one more in the second when Carey lead off with a single and later scored on a Denver error. Two more runs in the third extended the lead for the Knights. Peters started things with a hit and later scored on a fielder’s choice. Austin Kiler walked during the same inning and scored on a sac fly by Tecklenburg.

The scoring continued in the fourth with four more runs. Crees started things off with a double and scored on a double by Barz. A walk to Bader and consecutive hits by Peters and Clark plated two more runs. An error on an Austin Kiler ball scored one more in the inning to put the Knights up 10-1 after four.

In the fifth, Will Crees’ second double of the game got things started and allowed Bo Bader to knock him in with a single. Union tacted on two final runs in the sixth on a double by Carey and a RBI single by Tecklenburg. Tecklenburg later scored on a single by Bader.

Brady Driscol picked up the win on the mound giving up nine hits while striking out three and walking one. For the second night in a row, Union collected key hits while tallying a total of 13 on the night. The following Knights collected hits: Carey (2), Tecklenburg, Driscol, Crees (2), Barz, Bader (2), Peters (3), and Clark.
