Derek Holschlag went 2-4, sparking the Knights to a 4-1 victory in seven innings over #4 (Class 2A) Columbus on Tuesday, June 30.
He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning. The Knights got the win thanks in large part to Brady Driscol‘s dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Driscol allowed one earned run, three hits and two walks over seven innings. Isaac Squires couldn’t get it done on the bump for Columbus, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs. Union stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on a groundout by Driscol. One of the Knights baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the second, fourth and sixth. In the second, the Knights scored on an RBI single byJustin Carey, plating Austin Kiler. Union scored on an RBI single by Alex Barz.
Union is 14-10 overall and 11-6 in the conference. Columbus is 22-3, suffering their first conference loss to Union.
