Beverly J. Swyers, 76, of Jesup, died April 24, 2013, in Jesup.

She was born May 31, 1936, in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Ross and Judy Pouder Nelson. She married Harold D. Swyers on January 28, 1952, in Waterloo. They were later divorced.

Beverly “Granny” worked as a journeyman tool and die maker at Waterloo Industries for 25 years retiring in 1996. She was a charter member of the Waterloo Eagles Lodge and a past office holder of the Waterloo Industries Credit Union. She was also a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church.

She is survived by one son, Thomas D. (Beth) Swyers of Cedar Rapids; five daughters, Suzie (Larry) Weber of Waterloo, Virginia “Ginny” (Alan) Amundson of Boise, ID, Belinda R. Voelschow of Bellevue, Phillena Kay (Jim) Everett of Jesup, Marsy L. (Dave) Becker of Independence; one brother, Rev. Kenneth “Sunny” (Connie) Walker of Clarence; two sisters, Cindy Starkey and Pat Eastman both of Waterloo, 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, James Walker; one sister, Judy Ann Shadlow; and two grandchildren, Matthew Weber and Katie Sue Everett.

Services were held April 27, 2013, at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
