Rep. Bruce Braley announced recently that the Iowa Veterans Home will receive a $614,995 grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The funding will be used to renovate the boilers and steam distribution system at the home.

“Iowa veterans and their families rely on the Iowa Veterans Home to provide care for veterans long after they’ve put their lives on the line,” Braley said.

“The Iowa Veterans Home does important work and this grant allows the organization to make important upgrades to their facility and continue to provide quality care to our veterans.”

Last month, Braley announced the Iowa Veterans Home received a $529,584 grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to upgrade two generators and build a transportation facility at the home.

The Iowa Veterans Home, located in Marshalltown, is one of the three largest state-owned facilities in the country, serving over 600 veterans. A honorably discharged veteran or their spouse who demonstrate medical or financial need, are eligible for care at VA medical centers, and are Iowa residents are able to receive care from the facility.
