Francis – 60

Happy 60th Anniversary to Richard & Connie Francis!

Hill – 50

Bob and Pat (Clark) Hill will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married August 23, 1969 in La Porte City.
Their family includes David and Tanya Hill of Dysart and Sarah Hill, also of Dysart. They have grandchildren: Brandon, Grant, Jacob, Madyson and Mallory.
Bob works for Hill Farms and entertains at fairs and festivals as Hillbilly Bob. Pat is retired from Maurices.
Please join Bob and Pat in celebrating their 50th anniversary at Geneseo United Methodist Church, rural Buckingham on Sunday afternoon, September 29th from 2 to 4 PM. No gifts requested.

Palmer – 50

Dr. and Mrs. Palmer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House from 1-4 PM, Saturday, September 21, at the La Porte City Community Center.
The high school sweethearts, Rick Palmer and Joan Schneider, were married September 19, 1969 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Traer. Their love and devotion for one another is, and will continue to be, a blessing and beautiful example to their children and grandchildren.
Dr. Palmer retired from Chiropractic in 2018 after practicing for 46 years.
Joan was a home maker and Rick’s office assistant. She also refereed volleyball for 29 years and worked at Cedar Valley Bank and Trust for 19 years, retiring in 2016.
They have three children: Aaron and Teri Palmer of Metamora, IL, Jennifer and Andrew Manes of Winona Lake, IN, and Jonathon and Mary Palmer of Whitefish Bay, WI. They have eight grandchildren.

Meyer- 50

Jim and Dianne Meyer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1 to 4 PM at Odd Pops, 216 Main Street, La Porte City.
They were married on January 30, 1969 in Oxford, Iowa.
Jim is retired from Sears after 38 years and worked for Spence Fertilizer for 40 years. Dianne is retired from Covenant Medical Center after 43 years.
They have two sons, Tim and Randy, who both reside in Waterloo.
Join us to help them celebrate their special day.

Nichols – 70

Lee and Bonnie (Krantz) Nichols were married December 31, 1948, at the Calvary Bible Church in Washburn, Iowa, where they met in Youth Group.
They are the parents of John (Cindy) of Fairfax, Kathy (Jim) Lee of Ankeny, and Tom (Lori) of Anamosa.
Lee and Bonnie are engaged in farming and live in the Century Farm house in which Lee was born. They owned and operated Nichols Aviation, which started as a grass strip in 1963.
They became Cessna dealers in 1967 promoting aviation with flight instruction, airplane rental and sales. Together they hosted the annual Flight Breakfasts on Labor Day, which were well attended by fly-ins and local residents. Lee held his commercial pilot rating, working with the Black Hawk County ASCS taking aerial photos, and Bonnie her private pilot license, often flying airplanes for inspections to Forrest City or Monticello. Each of their children and their son-in-law also learned to fly.
They were recognized by the Iowa Flying Farmers as Airport Operators of the Year, also receiving the same award at the International Flying Farmers level. Lee was inducted into the Iowa Aviation Museum in Greenfield, in 2014 as a 2nd Generation Iowa Aviation Promoter of the 1970’s and 1980’s. He turned 90 on December 5, continues to raise cattle and holds his private pilot rating.
