Calhoon – 40

Rick and Terri Calhoon of La Porte City/Buckingham celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 15th. Rick Calhoon and Terri Sides were married October 15, 1977 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City. Rick and Terri have two children Brandee (Jeremy) Clark and Heather (Mike) Chingren. They also have 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. 
Rick and Terri spent time serving their country in the United States Marines Corps before obtaining jobs in the civilian realm. Rick retired from Ecolab Pest Elimination and continues to work in pest control by being the owner/operator of CPC Pest Control, as well as working as a technician for the Black Hawk County Elections Office. Terri retired from the United States Postal Service and now works for the Union Community School District. Rick and Terri enjoy spending time with their family and friends, and driving around in their classic cars.
The couples’ children and their spouses will be hosting a celebration for Rick and Terri on Sunday, November 5th from 2-6 PM at the La Porte City Veterans Hall, 302 Cedar Street, La Porte City. Family and friends of the couple are invited to attend the celebration. The couple requests no gifts as your presence is “present” enough.

Hutton – 50

Dick and Dee (Denise Thompson) will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with an open house from 1-4 PM, Saturday, November 4 at Heartland Community Church, 705 Bishop Ave in La Porte City. They were married November 4, 1967 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. William Cotton.
Dick graduated from Marion High School in 1959. After graduation, he served in the Navy from 1960-1964 and retired from Northwestern Bell (Qwest) after 40 years. Dick then worked as a baker at La Porte City Bakery, Etc. that he and Dee owned and operated for 19 years.
Dee graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1964. After graduation, while raising their children, she had a daycare and then joined Dick at the bakery until they sold it in 2015. La Porte City has been their home for 42 years where they have been active in the community and their church.
Hosting the event will be their children Shelley (Kevin) Flaherty of Alta, Jeff (Angie) Hutton of Mt. Auburn, Jennifer (Adam) Jackson of Cedar Rapids, and Mike (Ashley) Hutton of La Porte City. They have 6 grandchildren and one on order. They share their faith and delight in their family and friends.

Jaquith – 60

Billy and Shirley Jaquith will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. 
They were married on OCtober 26, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo.
Their family includes four daughters: Cindy and Randy O’Connor of Peoria, AZ, Susan and Craig Johnson of Independence, IA, Shari and Ryan Willett of Cedar Falls, Vicky and Ron Droppert of Hudson; one son, Brian and Mary Jaquith of Cedar Falls, along with eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Finke – 60

Arthur and Janice Finke will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple was married September 1, 1957 in Cedar Falls.
They are proud parents of Jacquelyn Myli (Rick), Alan Finke (Faith), Jeffrey Finke (Janelle), Amy Finke and Janelle Thompson (Kim). They have 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
They will be celebrating with their family on Labor Day weekend.

McFarland – 50

 Darryl and Lorraine (Harkness) McFarland will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
The couple was married at Sacred Heart Church in La Porte City on September 2, 1967. Darryl is a retired John Deere foundry and Lorraine is a retired homemaker. They continue to reside in La Porte City. 
They have three children: Ed (Wanda) McFarland, Patrick (Tracy) McFarland, and Lori (Jada) McFarland all of La Porte City. They have three granddaughters: Kari (Lance) Murphy of North Liberty, Bryanna McFarland of Evansdale, and Alexis McFarland of Cedar Rapids.
An Open House is being hosted by their family at the Veterans Memorial Hall in La Porte City on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 11AM-3 PM. The couple request no gifts.
