When La Porte City voters go to the polls on November 5, they will have two choices for Mayor and four choices to fill two City Council seats.

Incumbent Rick Lubben will be challenged for the office of Mayor of La Porte City by Dave Neil. There are no incumbents seeking reelection to the City Council, as Kathy Norris and Kim Ortiz have decided not to seek additional terms. The candidates seeking to fill their seats include Eric Allsup,  Gary Forney, Brent Sadler and Ted Steffens.

Beginning October 23, The Progress Review will publish “Meet the Candidates,” a series that will allow the candidates for La Porte City city government to state their views on a variety of topics and issues. The Progress Review invites readers to submit questions they have for the soon-to-be leaders of local government by logging on to www.theprogressreview.co and completing the “Questions for the Candidates” form by September 30, 2013. The Progress Review will synthesize the information submitted and incorporate it as part of the¬†questionnaire that will be sent to each candidate. As area voters make the determination for whom they will vote, the “Questions for the Candidates” form is an excellent opportunity to assess the candidates’ positions on the issues that matter most to the community. Voters who submit questions are not required to reveal their names or contact information, but may do so if they so choose. Voters who do not wish to submit questions online may send them to The Progress Review’s office at 213 Main Street, La Porte City, IA 50651. To be considered, questions must be received by September 30, 2013.
