The sale of six lots adjacent to 4th Street to the East Central Iowa Co-op will begin the process of creating a new public works facility for the city of La Porte City. It’s a win-win scenario for the Co-op and City alike, as the additional space the City is selling is prime real estate in terms of location for ECIC.
The City, meanwhile, will move forward on the construction of a new public works facility on the south side of town along U.S. Highway 218, at the former location of Haraldson auto dealership. The 9,900 square foot building will provide ample space to house City equipment, a climate-controlled area to service said equipment and much needed office space for Public Works employees.
