Clarence Eugene Main, 87, of Waterloo, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born February 26, 1926 in La Porte City; the son of James L. and Lea Christopher Main. He married Darlene D. Easton on January 9, 1948 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on March 11, 1994.
He retired from Challenge Dairy, working as a milk man for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his fiancé, Ronda Fecht of Waterloo; two sons, Michael (Michelle) Main of San Diego, CA, Anthony (Hope) Main of Mena, AR; one daughter, Cathy (Greg) Smith of Yucca Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Junior (Tammy), Mike (Amy) Fecht; two stepdaughters, Kim and Kris Fecht; nine step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren all of Waterloo; four sisters, Myrtle Hare, Earlene Phelps, Evelyn Lang, Carol Brown and his sister-in-law, Pat Easton all of Iowa.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Earl Rundell; one daughter, Debra McMahan; two brothers, Roy Main, Clyde Main and one sister, Lois Weddle.
Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with military honors conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138, VFW Post 1623, Iowa National Guard Honors Detail. Burial will be held in the West View Cemetery in La Porte City. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel and also one hour before the service.
