The City Council of La Porte City met in regular session on March 27, with Mayor David Neil calling the meeting to order at 7 PM.
The Council set May 22, 2017, as the date for a public hearing regarding the 2017 Fiscal Year (FY17) budget. Not to be confused with the FY18 budget the Council adopted earlier in March, the FY 17 amendment references the current fiscal year, which expires June 30, 2017. The budget amendment is typically addressed near the end of the fiscal year and accounts for any substantive changes in revenue and expenditures.
The Council adopted Resolution 17-12, which amends the City’s ambulance fee schedule, with charges now ranging from $550 to $850 and mileage billed at $12 per mile.
The City of La Porte City is the recipient of one of six Lucas 3 Chest Compression Emergency Devices, courtesy of Black Hawk County. Along with the unit, the City acknowledged and approved receipt of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU addresses the City’s responsibilities for training users how to properly use the device.
In other business, the Council approved resolutions to set salaries and wages for both union and non-union employees.
Prior to the regularly scheduled meeting, the Council held a work session to discuss the Main Street Rehabilitation project.
