The City Council of La Porte City’s regular meeting on January 9, 2017 was sandwiched by two work sessions devoted to work on the City’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget.
At the regular meeting, Brent Waters, from the auditing firm of Ridihalgh, Fuelling, Snitker, presented the audit of the City for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2016. There were no findings of instances of non-compliance in the audit. A copy of the audit was placed on file and is available at City Hall for review.
The Council also took action to close a bank account in Parkersburg. The account balance of more than $517,000 will be deposited into two local banks.
At its January 23 meeting, the Council will hold a public hearing on the sale of property, specifically all of the alley in Block 10, Railroad Addition, lying west of the southerly extension of the east line of lot 5 of said block 10.
In other business, the Council approved EMC Insurance Select Provider Program, which allows the City to direct employees to certain medical facilities, in the event of a worker comp injury or illness.
