Chosen, a short documentary movie about domestic minor sex trafficking in the United States will be screened in Jesup on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at 7 PM at the St. Athanasius Parish Center.
The movie will be shown as part of a program designed to begin a community discussion on sex trafficking of minors throughout Iowa.
“The discussion will be led by an Ambassador from Shared Hope International,” explained Kim Adams, publisher of the Jesup Citizen Herald, and co-sponsor of the event with St. Athanasius Church’s Social Justice Committee.
“Everyone is welcome to attend this important event,” said Ben Bader of St. Athanasius. “It’s important for us to learn more about this difficult topic.”
“We need to learn how to deal with the issues which sex trafficking of minors can bring even to this community,” Bader concluded.
The event will last about an hour, and will conclude with a time for refreshments and free discussion among those attending.
There is no admission charge. The St. Athanasius Parish Center, 623 Stevens Street, is right next to St. Athanasius Church on the corner of Sixth and Stevens.
Chosen is a movie distributed by Shared Hope International, a non-profit organization attempting to eradicate child trafficking one life at a time.
