Donald Edward Kramer, 64, of La Porte City, died Friday, Aug. 21, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1951, in Independence, son of Henry and Deloris Kramer.
On March 11, 1971, he married the love of his life Joy Linn Sterling.
Donald graduated in 1970 from Mayo High School, Rochester, Minn. and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed in various machining and industrial careers before retiring for medical reasons in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; sons Christopher of La Porte City and his children, Kayla of Waterloo and Tatum and Ryan Kramer of New York; son Kasey (Emily) of Waterloo; daughter Dawn (Jason) Burns and their children, Adrean, Isaiah, Elijah, Zoe, Zach and Zeke of Waterloo; two great-grandchildren, Ayvah and Joseph; two sisters, Rita (Bud) Murphy of Ozark, Mo., and Linda (Bob) Wood of Rochester, Minn.; and three brothers, Kenny of Jesup, Richard of Rochester, MN and David (Susan) of Coralville.
Donald was preceded in death by three infants and his parents.
A Celebration of Life service and meal in remembrance of Donald will be held at 1 PM in the City Park shelter house in La Porte City on Saturday, September 5th. Friends and family are invited to bring a dish to share.
