The Dysart Lions Club will be hosting a tenderloin dinner and silent auction to raise funds for Chloe Heitman, 11 year old daughter of Matt and Dawn Heitmann of Dysart and a sixth grader at Union Middle School. On February 1, 2013, Chloe was severely injured in a car accident while traveling with her mother, Dawn, and younger brother Hunter. While Dawn and Hunter suffered minimal injuries, Chloe was airlifted to Covenant Medical Center in critical condition. Soon after, she was transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. In addition to broken ribs, pelvis and hip, both of Chloe’s lungs had collapsed. She sustained a tracheal tear and both her liver and spleen were lacerated.

The benefit will be held Sunday, April 7, at the Dysart Community Building from 11 AM – 1 PM. All proceeds will help defray medical expenses and costs associated with her ongoing recovery.

Chloe is now home and recovering with support of home healthcare. Though still wearing a neck collar, she is up and walking with the help of a walker. Chloe continues to make progress with her rehabilitation and is attending school half days, a few days a week.

Donations for the silent auction are still being sought. If you would like to make a donation, or would like additional information about the benefit, please contact Abbie Hoppe via email at ahoppelpn@yahoo.com
