Youngblut_Earl_webEarl Francis Youngblut, 92, formerly of La Porte City, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Rosewood Estates.
He was born March 18, 1922, in Jesup, son of Peter and Louise Frost Youngblut. He married Agnes Meier on May 27, 1947, in Eagle Center.
Earl was an Army veteran, serving during WWII. He was a farmer. He served on the board of the National Bank of Waterloo, was director of the La Porte City Co-op, a member of the Iowa Corn Growers Association and the American Legion Post #207.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Leonard Youngblut of Buckingham and Harold (Amy) Youngblut of Waterloo; seven daughters, Teresa (Jim) Schmitz of Jesup, Rita (Craig) Rogers of Derby, Mary Wilson of Orlando, FL, Nancy Newton of Winter Park, FL, Marlys (Ted) Baebenroth of Minneapolis, MN, Lisa (Mark) Althof of Dysart and Anita (Rick Scholz) Youngblut of Denver, CO; a daughter-in-law, Donna Youngblut of Buckingham; 38 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Thoma and Dorothy (Eddie) Schares all of Waterloo; sister-in-law, JoAnn Wierck of Sherman, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Peter and Eric Youngblut; a daughter, Earlene McKenna; two sons-in-law, Bill McKenna and Joel Newton; four brothers, Harold, John (Geraldine), Lester (Edith) Youngblut, Raphael (Cleo) Youngblut; a sister, Marie (Reynold) Schmitz; a brother-in-law, Roland Thoma.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 7, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Eagle Center. Public visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers and gifts: Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice, Bosco System or St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
