Come out for some fall family fun in Jesup on Saturday, October 21, from 9 AM-1 PM. The “Fall Family Festival” will take place at the Jesup Park Pavilion on the corner of 6th Street and Young Street downtown. This special fall event is a fundraiser in honor of four-year old Reed Havlik.

Numerous fun events are planned including face painting, lawn games, and a bounce house.  In addition, pumpkins will be for sale, and kids can paint and decorate their special pumpkins.  Kids and families are welcome to come dressed in their Halloween costumes, where a professional photographer will be available to take photos.  Other activities include a baked goods sale and a silent auction.  Another fun activity is that more than 100 new and slightly used purses, wallets, and diaper bags will be for sale at $10 each.  Many are new with tags – including Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and Gucci knock offs and originals.  Hot drinks will also be available.

Little Reed Havlik will turn 5 this year and was diagnosed with Vanishing White Matter (VWM) disease in 2014. This disease is degeneration and affects the white matter of the brain. Currently there is no cure, and research efforts are greatly underfunded with little awareness of this disease. Reed is one of less than 2,000 cases of VWM worldwide, and it is believed that he is the only VWM patient in Iowa. Jesup and the surrounding communities have rallied around Reed and his family to raise funds to find a cure. You can make a difference by attending this fun-filled day to support this very worthy cause!
