La Porte City Fire Rescue invites community members and prospective volunteers to visit during an Open House to be held Wednesday evening, October 7 from 6 – 9 PM at the firehouse at 204 Main Street. The Open House is being held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, underscoring the difference community involvement makes in the operation of the local, volunteer department. LPC Fire Rescue/EMT team members are looking for others to join them in service to the community as the department belongs to all residents. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and live within the La Porte city limits.
A wide variety of tools and equipment will be on display. Stop in, visit and thank La Porte City’s finest and join them in making a difference each and every day.
If questions, call Becky Clark at 319-269-0069 or Sam Weich at 319-269-6306.
Additionally, the Department will be hosting its annual Fish Fry fundraiser on Saturday, October 10 from 5-8 PM at the Fire Station. The all-you-can-eat meal costs $8 for ages 9 and up, $4 for kids 5-8 years of age, and kids 4 and under eat free. Carry outs will be available, as well as delivery (to shut-ins only – please call 342-2521 to schedule). Mark your calendar and support local emergency volunteers and services.
