Geneva Lorraine Clark, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Pleasant Manor Health and Rehabilitation in Waxahachie, TX, where she had been cared for the last few months.
She was born March 18, 1918, in La Porte City, to Burrell and Mamie (Mary Melissa Sawyer) Wilder. Geneva married Harley Wayne Clark on July 22, 1939, in Kirksville, MO.
Geneva and Harley have made Waxahachie their home for the past 15 years, after moving from La Porte City. They have been active in the First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed an active life with friends from the church and their neighborhood.
She is survived by her loving husband of more than 73 years, Harley Clark of Waxahachie; one son, Michael Clark, of Waxahachie; daughter, Mary (Brian) Young; granddaughter, Sarah (Brian) Ross and great-grandsons, Luke and Zachary, all of Fort Worth; daughter, Sue Brown of Cedar Creek Lake; great-granddaughters, Alexandria, Samantha and Madison; grandson, Bradley Robert Brown; and daughter, Jo Deckert, of Alexandria, VA; one brother-in-law, Robert Wilson of Kingman, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters, all of whom lived in Iowa, and her son-in-law, Robert Brown.
Geneva was also preceded in death in recent years by her niece Diana (Johannsen) Lingenfelter of Kingman AZ, and two nephews, David Kline of La Porte City, and Walter (“Brub”) Johannsen of Des Moines; and by two young nephews who were soldiers in the war in Vietnam, Richard Ballheim and Jeffrey Wilson.
Geneva willed her body to the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Respecting Geneva’s and Harley’s wishes, no services were held and remembrance gatherings were private.
