Union Tops Denver

On December 12, the Union girls traveled to Denver and beat a scrappy Cyclone team 51-23. Union found themselves down 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, but with a defensive change gained a small lead heading into halftime 22-17. More defensive changes at halftime saw great team defensive effort in the third quarter holding Denver to just two points and earning a 37-19 lead at the end of three. The fourth quarter saw another great defensive effort holding the home team to four points. Union closed out the win 51-23.

"I thought the girls did a good job of keeping their composure especially in the first quarter when we down most of the time. Once we changed defenses, the girls played much better and began to click on offense. We had an advantage at the post which the girls capitalized on with our posts scoring 38 of our 51 points. Sophomores Jackie Barz and Kaeli Block did a nice job scoring 12 and 14, while senior Kaylee Sherwood chipped in with 12 of her own- all in the second half."
