Kramer Sausage Co. has been tantalizing taste buds on Main Street in La Porte City for a long time. As the business celebrates the milestone of more than 50 years of operation, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad offered his congratulations in the form of a letter last month.
“As the leader of a business that has been operating in Iowa for 50 years, you know what it takes to survive and thrive in our ever-changing, global economy. It is no small feat to face the ups and downs that businesses experience daily. We are grateful that you have chosen to continue to accept that challenge; and to do so here in our state,” Branstad wrote.
The Kramer name and reputation for high quality smoked meats is well known throughout the state. In addition to providing the smoked turkey legs that are so popular at the Iowa State Fair, many area hunters, along with some from farther distances, choose Kramer’s to process their venison and other game. The company also has a wide selection of products ranging from beef sticks to smoked pork chops and turkey breasts, in addition to an immensely popular line of sausages and Bavarian style bratwurst.
