The annual Green Scene Garden Symposium will take place from 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM on March 2, at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St., Waterloo. The $25 registration fee includes five seminars and lunch. Pre-registration is recommended. Make checks payable to Green Scene Symposium and mail to P.O. Box 2004, Waterloo, IA 50704. A gardener’s market will also be open, featuring displays provided by the speakers and products from local retailers.
Registration is from 8-8:30 AM. At 8:30, Zora Ronan will discuss, “Beyond Daylilies: Stella and All the Pretty Faces,” followed at 9:30 by Teri Sheehan’s “Repurposing the Garden.” Eileen Loan will present “Bees and Butterflies” at 10:30. After the lunch break, Deb Walser will discuss “Raised Beds and Square Foot Gardening.” The afternoon will wrap up with Rob Pruitt’s sharing of “Easy Organic Solutions to Common Garden Pests.”
Green Scene is a local, nonprofit volunteer organization that has given more than $600,000 to Black Hawk County for tree plantings and county beautification since 1976.
