The Friends of Hartman Reserve Nature Center will host a reception at the Nature Center to honor Riley Martin, Hartman’s current Artist-In-Residence. On Sunday, September 22 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Martin will showcase the art works she created during her residency, as well as some earlier works. The reception will be at Hartman Reserve’s Interpretive Building, 657 Reserve Drive in Cedar Falls.

Martin is a student of fine art at the University of Northern Iowa. She was selected as Hartman’s third Artist-In-Residence in May. This past summer, she taught art/painting classes at Hartman to a variety of age groups and worked on her own pieces, drawing inspiration from the beautiful natural space that is Hartman Reserve.

A selection of Martin’s work will be for sale at the reception. Guests will have the opportunity to preview a featured art work, which Martin is donating to the Friends group. The featured art work will be auctioned at the Friend’s annual fundraiser and dinner, Under the Harvest Moon, on November 8.
