Hawkeye Community College has teamed up with John Deere to offer high-demand training and employment opportunities to work as Product Development Specialists at John Deere. Interested individuals can learn more by attending a meeting on Tuesday, May 27, beginning at 6 PM in Tama Hall on Hawkeye’s campus. Participants will learn about training, skills required, and technology used for the program.
Product Development Specialists at Deere work on instrumentation, development, and testing for diesel engines, transmissions, axles, and agricultural equipment featuring advanced technology. Students who complete the program have preferential hiring for full-time employment as positions are available at John Deere. If selected for the Product Development Specialist program, students may apply for the John Deere Forgivable Loan Program through the Hawkeye Foundation. The loan is used to cover up to two-thirds of the tuition and fees for the program. After completing the program and being employed at John Deere for three years, the loan will be forgiven.
Graduates of the John Deere Product Development Specialist program will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology with a mechanical emphasis. They will also receive advanced electronic and mechanical training during a paid 500-hour internship at a manufacturing plant.
Interested individuals should plan to attend.  Classes begin the week of August 25.
