Preschoolers will read about April showers at Story Time on Thursday, April 4, 10:30 AM.  And we have great rain activities to keep children busy too.

On Wednesday, April 10, at 6 PM, the library will show the DVD of La Porte City street scenes of the 1930’s, 1940’s & 1950’s. Local authors and sisters, Ruth Anne Abel Schneck and Janice Abel, provided the DVD with a viewing guide to help you recognize the La Porte City sites and people. The library also has two longer DVDs of La Porte City for viewing. Let us know if you are interested.

Children will read about reading on Thursday, April 11, at Story Time. This is a wonderful way of gearing up for National Library Week.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the movie scheduled for Friday, April 12, at 1:15 PM. The plot centers on Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame and his struggle to gain acceptance into society. The library will have popcorn and crafts too.

Story Time on Thursday, April 18, will focus on hocus pocus in anticipation of the Friday magic show.

A Night of Magic is Friday, April 19, with the show starting at 7 PM, at Union High School.  Tickets are $4/person (ages 3 and under are free) and can be purchased at locations around town.  Magic class tickets are available at the library for $5/person for ages 8 & up.

During the month of April the library will be selling our sale items at the amazing price of $6.00 per bag for hardcover books, paperbacks, and/or VHS tapes.

There is still time to register at the library to win a four-pack of general admission tickets to the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines. The ticket drawing will be held on Friday, April 12.
