There is still time to participate in the DASH for the Stash, a new contest during Money Smart Week Iowa, April 5-12. To play, participants go to the library to find four posters. Read each poster, access the quiz question and choose an answer. The statewide winner will be awarded $1,000 to open or add to a retirement investment account.

Mateys, come to Story Time to hear about pirates. At 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 10, the good book pirate ship sets sail on a reading adventure with preschoolers aboard. Miss it and you will be walking the plank.

April 13–19 is National Library Week. Hawkins Memorial Library is celebrating with an open house April 14-19, serving cookies and inviting community members to visit and explore the library to discover the many services offered locally just for you.

Crafts for Easter are in the library Wednesday through Saturday, April 16-19. Make bunny baskets, chicks and bunnies, color pictures, stamp cards, or create your own Easter craft.

The Year We Left Home by Jean Thompson is our April selection for the adult book discussion group. The Year We Left Home follows the Erickson siblings as they confront prosperity and heartbreak, setbacks and triumphs, and seek their place in a country whose only constant seems to be breathtaking change. To participate you need to register, check out a book, read it by the meeting date, and join this group at the library on Tuesday, April 22, at 1 PM.
