Are you a stitcher or crafter with unfinished projects? Join Hawkins Handcrafters afternoons on the second and fourth Thursdays each month. For a couple of hours you can focus on completing a work in progress or start something new. All types of handwork are welcome – just bring your own project. This group meets 1 to 3 PM, Thursday, August 28.
The library will be closed on Monday, September 1, for Labor Day. Plan ahead for the holiday and pick up extra books and movies for entertainment over the long weekend.
Story Time for preschoolers begins on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10:30 AM, when children will learn about using their library. Youngsters are invited to Preschool Story Time each week for stories, activities, and crafts on Thursday mornings during the school year. Stop in the library and register your preschooler for this free and fun program.
On Tuesday, September 9, at 6 PM, join us at the library to hear Author Linda McCann speak about her new book, Prohibition in Eastern Iowa. It will be a great evening full of interesting tales as Linda shares stories that tell how the normal person was swept up into the craziness.
A Bug’s Life is the early out movie on Wednesday, September 10, at 1:15 PM. A misfit ant, looking for “warriors” to save his colony from greedy grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troupe.
There are only a few more days in August to purchase sale books by authors with last names beginning with W, X, Y and Z for $.25 each.
Summer Reading Art Show projects can be picked-up at the library. Thank you to the artists who were gracious enough to share your artistic work. Our patrons marveled at your creativity. The art show will be displayed until the end of August.
