Youngsters can partake in cookie creativity on Thursday, December 3, when Preschool Story Time kicks off the holiday season with activities about Christmas cookies at 10:30 AM. Remember, there will not be Story Time if there is a late school start, or no school due to inclement weather.
Santa Claus makes a special entrance at 11 AM at the library riding in a fire truck on Saturday, Dec 5, during La Porte City’s Home for the Holidays celebration. Children are encouraged to meet Santa upon his arrival and take their turn visiting with him from 11 AM to 1 PM. Parents have the opportunity to order keepsake pictures taken by Photographic Images by Georgia during the visit. And don’t miss making Christmas crafts and ornaments between 9 AM and 1 PM.
Minions is the 1:15 PM movie on Wednesday, December 9. Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlett Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.
Reading about reindeer will put preschoolers in the Christmas Spirit. Join us for Story Time on Thursday, December 10, 10:30 AM when children hear about Santa’s animal helpers.
Hawkins Handcrafters has holiday crafting time on Thursday, December 10, from 1-3 PM. Spend a couple of hours finishing your projects in the company of others.
The Union High School Carolers perform at 5 PM on Friday, December 11. This charming costumed a cappella group will grace patrons with 20 minutes of holiday music. Don’t be late!
Sign up now for The Perfect Pie Party on Thursday, December 17, from 6-8 PM. Master pie maker Ruth Beck takes you through the steps to create a picture perfect cherry or apple pie that you can take home and bake when you please. Cost for this class is $20 per person. Please register at the library.
