Try a Blind Date with a Book. Check out a wrapped book from our display, open it, and read it. You decide if it is a stud or a dud between the covers! Then rate your date: nice, think twice, or no dice, to get your name in our blind date prize drawing.
We have supplies for you to create a Valentine masterpiece for the holiday at the library’s Valentine Making Party. Wednesday, February 11 through Saturday, February 14, all ages are invited to design special cards for those you love.
Celebrate the day of love in style at Story Time on Thursday, February 13, 10:30 AM. Preschoolers will love making valentines, playing Valentine bingo, and listening to Valentine’s Day tales.
Bring a craft project in progress to the library for Hawkins’ Handcrafters on Thursday, February 12, from 1 to 3 PM.
Second and third graders choose and read a chapter book of their choice then share the story at the Reading is Fun Book Club. This group meets on Thursday, February 12, at 4 PM.
Get assistance with computer programs, navigating the internet, and more. Bring your computer questions to Tech Time on Tuesday, February 17, at 9 AM. Please register at the library.
Everyone will read about things that are red at Preschool Story Time on Thursday, February 19. Wear red to fit the theme.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is the movie on Friday, February 20, at 1:15 PM. Alexander’s day begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by more calamities. Though he finds little sympathy from his family and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him, his mom, dad, brother, and sister all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
Thank you to the family of Edward and Roberta Marshall for their thoughtfulness and generosity in remembering Hawkins Memorial Library upon the loss of both parents. The library is extremely appreciative of these gifts.
