The Big Library Read for the eBook, Keys to the Kitchen is through March 5. Big Library Read is an international program that gives libraries and library patrons unlimited simultaneous access to a popular title during the program, creating a virtual, global book club.  To borrow this eBook click the NEIBORS link on our website, www.laportecity.lib.ia.us. You can browse the entire NEIBORS library for eBooks and audio books that are loaned for two weeks at no cost to you.

Preschoolers will read books about winter fun, sports, and snowmen at Story Time on Thursday, February 21, at 10:30 AM,

The Smurfs 2 movie is playing on Friday, February 21, at 1:15 PM. The Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette, who has been kidnapped by Gargamel since she knows a secret spell that can turn the evil sorcerer’s newest creation – creatures called the Naughties – into real Smurfs. Join us for a fun flick, popcorn, and games.

With all the great Dr. Seuss books to choose from preschoolers will be busy with silly stories and activities to go along with them at Story Time on February 27.  The Dr. Seuss birthday celebration starts at 10:30 AM that Thursday.

From 1 to 3 PM on Thursday, February 27, Hawkins’ Handcrafters meet.  You can bring any type of craft or handwork to work on and join others at the library for conversation and inspiration. Get out and enjoy some company on a snowy afternoon.

You have until the end of February to try a Blind Date with a Book. Based only on genre select a book from our display, take it home, unwrap it, and read. Many of our daring blind daters have had love at first read with a new author or series.

Sign up at the library to attend a computer use class to improve your skills with Windows.  A variety of learning experiences will be covered in this one hour class and you are sure to learn something new.
