All preschoolers are invited to join us for snowy stories and activities about snow people at Story Time on Thursday, January 23, at 10:30 AM.

January is International Creativity Month, so bring a creative craft or handwork project, use this time to work on it, and enjoy chatting with others on a cold afternoon when Hawkins Handcrafters meet on Thursday, January 23, 1 to 3 PM.

Despicable Me 2 is the movie on Wednesday, January 29.  Gru is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help deal with a powerful new super criminal. The movie starts at 1:15 PM, with popcorn.

Reading about monkeys will be silly and fun at Preschool Story Time on Thursday, January 30. The library has many monkey books to amuse children.

Getting cabin fever with this cold winter weather?  Remember there is coffee every Monday morning at 8 AM, and a jigsaw puzzle out and ready for you to work on. It’s always warm and friendly at the library.

Why rent movies when you can borrow them from the library? We have nearly 1,800 titles for children, teens, and adults, available at no charge for a week.

There is a great selection of sale books by authors with last names beginning with G, H, and I on the sale shelves. They are buy one, get one free in January.

The library has a UPS battery backup system with two batteries for sale.  Please stop at the library if you are interested.

Please consider applying to fill an unexpired term on the Hawkins Memorial Library Board of Trustees.  Applicants must reside inside the city limits of La Porte City.  This Board meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 PM.  Contact Hawkins Memorial Library or City Hall for an application, or email lpcclerk@netins.net.  Deadline for applications is January 31, 2014.
