On Thursday, July 11, Toy Story will be the weekly summer movie at 1:15 PM. Enjoy popcorn and games too.
From 1 to 5 PM on Friday, July 12, kids can be creative with Summer Reading crafts. Crafters are invited to put their masterpieces in our Summer Reading Art Show to share with library patrons.
Summer Reading participants will take a trip to the La Porte City FFA Historical & Ag Museum on Tuesday, July 16, at 6 PM. Read books about gardening, complete the museum scavenger hunt, and sample some unusual produce.
Brass Notes Over Wolf Creek, the newly released book by Janice Abel, will be featured on Wednesday, July 17, at 6 PM, with an author book talk and signing. Brass Notes is the author’s salute to childhood and community life in rural America. In this book you will meet Jen and hear of her escapades in the summer of 1945 in Wolf Creek, Iowa. This is a wonderful book for young readers.
The movie on Thursday, July 18, at 1:15 PM is Toy Story 2. Join us at the library for this delightful movie, popcorn, and games.
Garden crafts will be out and ready for kids to make on Friday, July 19, from 1 to 5 PM. Paint, glue, and design a variety of garden themed art pieces.
Don’t miss Turning Over Rocks, an evening of discovery, with Leon Lindley from McFarlane Park on Tuesday, July 23, 6 PM. Turning Over Rocks means looking over, under, and in things to discover nature. Leon will be bringing friends to this Summer Reading Program that he has uncovered while Turning Over Rocks.
A special magic class will be held after the Summer Reading Magic Show on Tuesday, July 30. Please register students in advance for this free class at the library. Junior magicians need to be eight years or older to participate.
