Make sure your child cracks a book this summer by registering them for Succeeding at Reading. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, K-5th graders can retain and improve reading skills by reading with volunteers. Call for times.

On Friday, July 18, from 1 to 5 PM the library has Summer Reading Program crafts. This week you can make gak, raised salt paintings, and puffy paint. Send your children in for some creative fun.

Arctic Drift by Clive Cussler is the July 21, 1 PM book club discussion selection. This is a great action story about survival. Pick up a copy of this book to read and chat with this group.

Colorful Chemistry is the Summer Reading Program at 6 PM on Tuesday, July 22. Discover reactions between several solutions as we explore the colorful, and sometimes surprising, world of chemical reactions. Jason Dornbush, Grout Museum, will present this colorful program for kids. And check our Facebook page for pictures from other Summer Reading programs.

Scooby-Doo2, Monsters Unleashed is the Wednesday, July 23, 1:15 PM movie. Mystery Inc. must save Coolsville from an attack of past unmasked monsters brought to life by an evil masked figure trying to “unmask” the gang.

Grab a friend and your handwork and join Hawkins Handcrafters on Thursday, July 24, from 1 to 3 PM.

Get creative with Summer Reading Program crafts for kids from 1 to 5 PM on Friday, July 25. There are several crafts to make, or artists can follow their own creative whims. Artists are invited to put their masterpieces in our Summer Reading Art Show.

Local author Cindy Gross is joining us at Hawkins Memorial Library on Monday, July 28, from 9 to 11 AM for a signing of her inspirational book Alabaster. Her book is available for purchase for $10.00 during Cindy’s visit and makes a perfect gift.

An A to Z Gardening Recipe for the Earth is the topic for the Summer Reading Program on Tuesday, July 29, at 6 PM with the WASTE TRAC Education Team.

The Land Before Time, The Mysterious Island, is our 1:15 PM movie on Wednesday, July 30. When a swarm of “leaf-gobblers” devours all the green food in the Great Valley, the herds move on to find another valley of greens and in the process, Littlefoot and his friends wind up on an island in the middle of the Big Water.
