Get creative with Summer Reading Program crafts for kids from 1 to 5 PM on Friday, July 11. Crafters can make fossils and dinosaurs, or follow their own creative whims. Crafts are related to the weekly Summer Reading themes and artists are invited to put their masterpieces in our Summer Reading Art Show to share with library patrons.
Kids can join a”polymer party” and learn about large chains of particles called polymers by creating substances such as “gak”, “floam”, and “oobleck”. Polymer Palooza on Tuesday, July 15, 6 PM is the Summer Reading Program with some “ooey, gooey” materials and take-home fun. Register at the library.
Balto is the movie showing on Wednesday, July 16, 1:15 PM. An outcast half-wolf risks his life to prevent a deadly epidemic from ravaging Nome, Alaska.
Summer Reading Program crafts are on Friday, July 18, from 1 to 5 PM. We have ideas, models, and crafting supplies to keep kids busy for a long time. Send your children to the library for some creative fun.
The July 21, 1 PM book club discussion selection is Arctic Drift by Clive Cussler. A potential breakthrough discovery to reverse global warming…a series of unexplained deaths in British Columbia…a rash of international incidents between the United States and a longtime ally that threatens to erupt into a shooting war. NUMA director Dirk Pitt and his children, know there’s a connection—but they also know they have very little time to find it. Pick up a copy of this book at the library and join the discussion.
Colorful Chemistry is the Summer Reading Program at 6 PM on Tuesday, July 22. Discover reactions between several solutions as we explore the colorful, and sometimes surprising, world of chemical reactions. Jason Dornbush, Grout Museum, will present this colorful program for kids.
Scooby-Doo2, Monsters Unleashed is the Wednesday, July 23, 1:15 PM movie. Mystery Inc. must save Coolsville from an attack of past unmasked monsters brought to life by an evil masked figure trying to “unmask” the gang.
Grab a friend and your handwork and join Hawkins Handcrafters on Thursday, July 24, from 1 to 3 PM. Bring any project and enjoy some conversation and work time.
The library has audiobooks that are great to use when you are traveling. Drive and read a book at the same time!
