Adventures in Zambezia is the movie playing on Thursday, June 20, at 1:15 PM. Set in a bustling bird city on the edge of the majestic Victoria Falls, “Zambezia” is the story of Kai – a naïve, but high-spirited young falcon who travels to “Zambezia” where he discovers the truth about his origins and, in defending the city, learns how to be part of a community. There will also be popcorn, games, and coloring.
Finding Nemo is the summer movie on Thursday, June 27, at 1:15 PM. After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.
Local author Gary Lee Martinson will be talking about and signing his recently published book Ball of String on Thursday, June 27, 6 PM at Hawkins Memorial Library. You will never read a more twisted romance novel with this good-hearted, honest Amish girl tormented by love that creates tangles in her life’s ball of string. Please come and congratulate Gary, hear about his book, and purchase a book to read and have signed.
Register now for the Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Program at the library. Children’s programs will be held at 6 PM Tuesday evenings starting July 9, with crafts from 1 to 5 PM on Friday afternoons. This program is for age 3 through 5th grade. Pick up a schedule and a reading log at the library when you register.
June is Audiobook Month. Hawkins Memorial library has nearly 400 audiobook titles to check out, and over 3,500 audiobooks available to download from our NEIBORS program, with new titles added all the time. Audiobooks are great to use when traveling, cooking, cleaning, relaxing, or while immersed in a hobby.
The library will be closed for the holiday on Thursday, July 4, so plan ahead and grab extra books, magazines, and movies for your day off.
