Story time begins in the library at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 14, with special stories at the FFA Museum. Preschoolers will sink their teeth into books about eating and food.

Hawkins’ Handcrafters is 1 to 3 PM, Thursday, March 14. This is your chance to work on those unfinished craft projects.

Spring break day 1: BINGO at the Library on Monday, March 18 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Play for fun and win small prizes.

Spring break day 2: The Cedar Bend Humane Society visits on Tuesday, March 19, at 1:30 PM. We’ll have a program with a dog visit, and make dog toys. Please bring a donation of pet food.

Spring break day 3: The family friendly movie is Ralph Breaks the Internet on Wednesday, March 20, at 1:15 PM. Ralph and Vanellope discover a Wi-Fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure. Rated PG, animation/adventure/comedy, plays 1 hr. and 51 min.

Waking up a Tired Yard: Simple Ways to Reenergize Your Yard will be presented by Iowa State Extension and Outreach of Black Hawk County on Wednesday, March 20 at 6:30 PM.

Spring break day 4: Fluffy slime, a make and take activity, on Thursday, March 21, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.

Spring break day 5: LEGO Day on Friday, March 22, 1 to 5 PM. Drop in any time to build.

When Captain Flint Was Still a Good Man by Nick Dybek is the Book Club selection for March. Every fall, the men of Loyalty Island sail from the Olympic Peninsula up to the Bering Sea to spend the winter catching king crab. When it appears the business will be sold, taking away the fishermen’s livelihood, Cal stumbles on evidence that his father may have taken extreme measures to salvage their way of life.
