Preschoolers have a fieldtrip to the La Porte City FFA Historical & Ag Museum to read about pigs. We will have a squealing good piggy program on November 14, at 10:30 AM for Story Time.

Hawkins’ Handcrafters meet just once this month on Thursday, November 14, from 1 to 3 PM, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Bring any craft project you are working on and join others at the library for great conversation and new friendships – while getting your work done on a chilly afternoon.

On Monday, November 18, at 6 PM, author Linda Betsinger McCann will talk about her newest book Lost Linn County, Vanished Towns of the Cedar Valley. Hear the latest in the “Lost Counties of Iowa” series and explore the history of Linn County with us.

Firegirl is the November book selection for the Kids’ Wild About Books Club, meeting Wednesday, November 20, at 3:45 PM in the library. Tweens can register and pick up this book about Tom, a seventh-grader, negotiating his friendship with Jeff. The arrival of new girl Jessica Feeney, however, changes everything; Jessica has been badly burned by a fire, and her terrible disfigurement shocks the class into confusion. This book is about kids’ struggling to manage the intrusion of abnormality in their lives.

Thanksgiving is the Story Time theme for Thursday, November 21. Stories and activities with turkeys and pilgrims will create holiday fun for preschoolers.

Reduce your fines by $2.00 for each item brought in during Food For Fines Month. Bring non-perishable food and personal care items to the library to pay fines during November. Distribution of donated goods will be local through The Lord’s Food Pantry.
