On Thursday, November 19, at 10:30 AM, preschoolers read about Thanksgiving at Story Time. Holiday happiness will abound with tales and activities sharing adventures of turkeys and pilgrims. There will not be Story Time on Thursday, November 26, due to the holiday.
Grab a copy of People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks and join the discussion. The book club meets November 23, at 1 PM.
Gobble up crafting fun on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23-25. Free make and take Thanksgiving crafts can be created at the library.
Tomorrowland is the movie on Tuesday, November 24, at 1:15 PM. Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.
The library will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 25, and remain closed all day on Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday. We open again at 9 AM on Saturday, November 28.
Your fine total will be reduced by $3.00 for each item brought in during Food for Fines Month. Bring in non-perishable food and personal care items to pay fines during November.
LEGORAMA building fun is Tuesday, December 1, from 4 to 5:30 PM. All ages are welcome.
Thursday, December 3, kicks off the Christmas season at Preschool Story Time. Youngsters are encouraged to join us at 10:30 AM for Christmas fun.
Santa Claus and Christmas crafts for the kids are in the library on Saturday, December 5, for La Porte City’s Home for the Holidays celebration. Santa Claus visits with children from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Help our wishes come true at the museum and library by choosing a wish card from the display tree at either location, and purchasing an item to help us out. Our wish lists include basic cleaning, office and operational supplies.
Do you have Christmas decorations or a tree that you are no longer using? The library would be thrilled to receive new or used holiday decorations, Legos, jigsaw puzzles, baskets, holiday cards, craft supplies, and books that are still in good condition. Please think of us when you are cleaning and sorting – especially those Christmas items.
