Stories and activities with turkeys and pilgrims will create holiday happiness for preschoolers on Thursday, November 21, at 10:30 AM, when they read about Thanksgiving at Story Time.
Hawkins Memorial Library will close at 5 PM on Wednesday, November 27, and all day on Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The library will open again on Saturday, November 30, at 9 AM.
Bring non-perishable food and personal care items to the library to pay fines during November for Food For Fines Month. Each item brought in will reduce your fines by $2.00. Distribution of donated goods will be local through The Lord’s Food Pantry.
In November, sale books by authors with last names beginning with D, E, or F, are buy one, get one free. Find these bargains on our sale shelves.
Stop at the library to help write Christmas cards to send to the Holiday Mail for Heroes program, on Monday and Tuesday, December 2 and 3, during library hours. Your cards and personal messages will provide a welcome touch of home for our troops during the holiday season. Cards to write on will be provided.
Thursday, December 5, kicks off the Christmas season at Preschool Story Time. Youngsters are encouraged to join us at 10:30 AM.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, and Christmas crafts will be in the library on Saturday, Dec 7, for La Porte City’s Home For The Holidays celebration. The Claus’s will be visiting with children from noon to 2 PM that afternoon.
The library would be thrilled to receive new or used baskets, holiday cards, craft supplies, holiday decorations, Legos, jigsaw puzzles, and books that are still in good condition. Please think of us when you are cleaning and sorting.
