Bring non-perishable food and personal care items to the library to pay fines during the month of November. Your fine total will be reduced by $3.00 for each item brought in during Food For Fines Month. Distribution of donated goods will be local through The Lord’s Food Pantry.
Children will read about pumpkins and pies at Story Time on November 6. It will be a pumpkiny morning for preschoolers who join us at 10:30 AM.
Register your 2nd or 3rd grader for the Reading is Fun Book Club. This group meets on Thursday, November 6, at 4 PM. Kids read and share a book of their choice, then meet monthly to tell about one chapter book.
Hurry to order your fresh greenery for the holidays! Decorated Wreaths, 25’ outdoor garland, and wreath door hangers can be purchased from Hawkins Memorial Library. The order deadline is November 12, with pickup beginning Nov. 30. All proceeds benefit the library.
It will be a corny program for preschoolers at Story Time on November 13. This adventure includes a trip to the La Porte City FFA Historical & Ag Museum to read books about corn.
Hawkins’ Handcrafters meet on Thursday, November 13, from 1-3 PM. Bring any project you are working on and join other creative people at the library. We love show and tell!
Computer Tech Time is on Tuesday, November 18, at 9 AM. Get computer help and learn specific programs using LearningExpress, available through the library. Please register if you plan to attend.
Writings by Gordon Korman will be discussed at the Kid’s Wild About Books Club on Tuesday, November, 18 at 3:45 PM. Kids age 4th grade and older should register and read at least one Gordon Korman book before the discussion.
The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel is the November 24, 1 PM book club discussion selection. This is a novel of awesome beauty and power, sharing a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love. Pick up a copy of this book at the library and join a lively discussion.
